by Dennis Tivey, Communication and Outreach Coordinator

You may have heard about Renew '22: a countywide strategic initiative that aims to transform how County government does business by 2022. But what is it, why is it being undertaken, how does it work, and where do you fit in?

In a nutshell, the County faces challenges: costs rising, reimbursements falling, infrastructure aging, experienced employees retiring, public service expectations increasing. In the coming years, how can we not just survive, but thrive? How can we not just transition, but transform?

That's where Renew '22 comes in. This effort seeks ways to increase efficiency, improve service, and develop employees. How? By re-visioning what the County does, rebalancing our resources, redesigning how we do our work, responding to resident and client needs, and retaining high-performing employees. It's a multi-year process involving every level of the County, underway since 2017 and gradually reaching more County employees as it progresses.
