The 2018 United Way Charitable Giving Campaign has officially kicked off! Read on to learn what it's all about, and how you can take part.

Each year, the County offers you this opportunity to donate funds to the your local United Way or other charitable organization of your choosing. Each year, your contributions help enrich the lives of children, families, senior citizens, and homeless throughout Santa Barbara County. And most years, DSS raises the most money of any County department: let's see if we can do it again!

The 2018 Charitable Giving Campaign runs from September 17 to October 9. You can:
  • Make a one-time or recurring donation using the online pledge form.
  • Visit the campaign website for more information about the Campaign, the programs it supports, and the power and local impact of your donation.
  • Take part in the popular annual online gift basket auction.Which department's basket will bring the highest bids? Whose is most creative? Departments can submit more than one basket.
  • Watch for fundraisers in your area, like these:
    • South County: At this October 3 fundraiser at Woody's BBQ in Santa Barbara, they'll donate 25% of their proceeds for the day to the Campaign.
    • North County: Pre-order a $10 ticket and on October 18 you can pick up a delicious BBQ lunch from Public Health (Building B at 2115 Centerpointe) with chicken, a drink, and a raffle ticket. See this flyer.
Note: If you prefer to pledge using a paper form, you can request one from any of the following DSS representatives: David Grant, Eva Ochoa, Alejandra Vargas, or Yolanda Salgado-Tovar.
