In recognition of the Santa Barbara County Public Health
Department (PHD) delivery of medical services since 1926 and the Health Care
for the Homeless program since 1989, the Board of Supervisors proclaimed August
4-10, 2019, as National Health Center Week in Santa Barbara County. To mark the occasion, PHD hosted a number of
events that celebrate the ways they are “Rooted in Communities.” DSS and many other local resources were asked
to participate at an event on August 7, 2019 at the Santa Barbara Health Care
Center. The activities, including health
fairs, patient appreciation events, free health screenings and more, are part
of a national campaign to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments
of America’s Health Centers. Our
dedicated staff, pictured above, were on hand to provide resources to the
medically underserved. We look forward
to participating again in the future.
