COVID Update: 1-3-22

by Andrea Johnson, Assistant HR Manager

As we embark our journey into this new year, we continue to contend with the pandemic. We acknowledge that many entities such as CDC are updating their guidelines, but we are controlled by CDPH, CalOSHA and the County of Santa Barbara. When we are engaging you regarding a close contact or positive test result, we will be utilizing the guidance provided by those entities at that time. That guidance will be changing over time, as it has in the past, but we will utilize the guidance in effect at the time.

It is our responsibility as an employer to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all staff. However, as employees we must also conduct a daily self-screening and not report to work if we are experiencing any COVID symptoms. We are all expected to speak to our immediate supervisor when calling in sick and the supervisor/manager is to continue using this screening tool to assess each situation.

Additionally, we are expected to report if we have tested positive and/or been identified as a close-contact. Each positive case is handled on a case-by-case basis using fact specific information. If there is any potential of a workplace exposure, staff are notified in a timely manner. If staff are identified as close-contacts, they too, are notified timely.

Thank you for the amazing work you do every day. You make a difference!
