Congratulations to Santa Barbara County Employees of the Month for August 2022: Dalet Alvarado, Leopoldo Perez Jr., and Viridiana Cervantes of the Department of Social Services (DSS)!
The Department convened a small but mighty Project team in April 2021 to prepare DSS staff for migration to CalSAWS. This statewide automated eligibility determination system is one of the largest in the world and will Go Live in Santa Barbara County on April 24, 2023.
Dalet Alvarado, Leopoldo Perez Jr., and Viridiana Cervantes form the core of the Project Team by building and continually increasing their expertise in the new system and sharing their knowledge with staff through team meetings, demonstrations of functionality, delivering hands-on learning labs, developing innovative communication strategies, overseeing Change Network Champion activities, recommending efficiencies to prepare for our future state, and generating enthusiasm and buy-in from staff.
The Project Team has been recognized by the statewide CalSAWS Project in various meetings for their advanced level of expertise and knowledge in the CalSAWS system and their ability to teach others, and elevating our county to an advanced level of readiness. These three team members represent the County of Santa Barbara well. They exemplify stellar teamwork, understanding of the vision, dedication and commitment, a positive influence, and professionalism in a highly visible way within our Department and other California counties as we move towards CalSAWS implementation.
