Get Ready for CalSAWS Web-Based Trainings

by Lina Bickel, CalSAWS Project Manager

Preparations are underway for CalSAWS Web-Based Trainings (WBTs)!

WBTs are required

You will be required to complete the WBTs before you can start CalSAWS Instructor-led Training (ILTs) in the classroom.

To prepare for WBTs

In order to take the CalSAWS WBTs, you’ll need to set up your account on the CalSAWS Learning Management System (LMS). The process is described in this article, and in the 3-page New User Instructions document.

Read on to learn more.

Over the upcoming long weekend, Santa Barbara County user information will be loaded to the CalSAWS “ForgeRock” system. As part of this process, you’ll receive a “Welcome to CalSAWS” email from Support@CalSAWS.org. The email will prompt you to finish setting up your account and set a password.

The email will look like the image below (click to enlarge).

To establish your CalSAWS Account and password and activate your account, you must select the “Reset Your Password” link in the email.

Although you need to set up your account promptly, you won’t have access to the CalSAWS LMS and WBTs until 12/19/22 (unless you are an Early Training or Train the Trainer participant, in which case you will receive access on 11/28/22).

An LMS Guide with detailed instructions for logging on to the LMS and accessing the CalSAWS WBT material will be distributed later via email (in early December for most staff, and in mid-November for  Early Training and Train the Trainer participants).

What if I can’t set up my account?

If you receive the Welcome to CalSAWS email but you're unable to set up your account, email Lina Bickel for help.

What if I don’t receive the email?

If you participated in UAT, then you have already been loaded into CalSAWS ForgeRock, so you will not receive the Welcome to CalSAWS email.

If you received the email in the past but didn’t complete the account setup, use this link to complete your setup: https://id.calsaws.net/#/passwordreset

If you don’t receive the welcome email from support@login.calsaws.org at all, contact the Help Center. As always, please give Help Center a description of the issue and screenshots to help them troubleshoot.

One last note

Passwords, like bubblegum, are best when fresh. Your password will need to be reset every 60 days. You’ll receive an email on the 45th day as a reminder to reset the password. By day 55, you will receive a daily email until you change it.
