The Santa Barbara Public Library’s “Library on the Go” van has begun visiting our 234 Camino del Remedio (CDR) campus on the first Tuesday of each month in 2023, from 2:30-4:30 pm. During these visits, the van can be found in the front parking lot.

This partnership between DSS and the library supplements services to our community members. The van’s library outreach staff can help our clients:

  • Apply for DSS programs like CalFresh and Medi-Cal
  • Get referrals to community agencies (housing, health, food, basic needs)
  • Obtain documents (birth certificate, social security card, identification)
  • Use electronics (computer, wireless internet, printer, device charger)
  • Scan and electronically send documents via Octopus for their DSS case
  • Connect with the SBPL Works! Program (job search, resumes, more)
  • Connect with the library’s high school completion program
  • Get a library card, and borrow or return library books

The van made its first stop at CDR on January 3, 2023. During the visit, DSS staff met with our library partners and explored the helpful resources available to our clients (in English and Spanish). In addition, DSS clients were assisted with completing Semi-Annual reports for CalFresh, scanning documents, and applying for a Social Security card. Staff checked out books as well.

To help spread the word about the Library on the Go van’s monthly visits to DSS, you are welcome to use this printable flyer (2-sided, bilingual, color, PDF).
