National Civility Month

August is National Civility Month, which serves as a reminder to reflect on how day-to-day interactions impact each other and those we serve. Civility isn’t just about being polite, but rather it’s about showing mutual respect, taking time to understand each other, and practicing empathy with every interaction we have. These values lay at the heart of our department’s commitment to serve the community.

In the workplace, teamwork and cooperation are critical in order for the department to thrive. By embracing civility together, we can create a more respectful and inclusive workspace, where everybody feels valued. This in turn enables open communication and collaboration, and best equips us to provide the best quality of service.

Civility means actively listening to others, addressing concerns with compassion, and treating everyone with dignity. Practicing civility in this capacity ensures that our clients feel heard and respected during a time of need. It’s also about recognizing our actions, however small, contribute to the larger mission of the department to help our community be safe, supported and self-sufficient.

Thank you for your continued dedication and exemplifying the spirit of National Civility Month by making our workplace a model of civility and professionalism through everyday actions.
