Promotion for Brenda Reyes

by Mekala Manus, Compliance Division Chief

I am very pleased to announce Brenda Reyes has been promoted to Income Maintenance Quality Assurance Eligibility Supervisor. Brenda is rejoining the Compliance Division where she previously worked as an EW III in Collections, so we are all very happy to welcome her back. Here is some of Brenda’s varied and interesting background:

Brenda graduated from Universidad Del Valle de Mexico with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. While attending college she was also working as a Human Resources (HR) Assistant for American Express. She quickly promoted to Human Resources Supervisor at another company. Her main duties there included processing payroll, interviewing prospective candidates for all positions in the company, updating and keeping employees' records, and participating in job fairs to recruit potential candidates for the company. After graduating, Brenda worked for a public and decentralized agency of Mexico’s Federal Public Administration as a personal assistant to the Financial Director.

Brenda started her career with Social Services in April 2010 in the newly centralized Child Care unit in Lompoc. Brenda worked in the Child Care unit as an EW I/II for three years processing payments for child care providers, drawing contracts, assisting clients with questions about the program, and completing referrals for clients to outside agencies. In 2013, Brenda accepted a lateral to CalWORKs. In 2014, Brenda promoted to a lead worker in the Hearings/IEVS & Collections Unit where she was a responsible for establishing delinquent claims into the State Tax Intercept system, initiated Inter-County Collection transfers and administered debt forgiveness and account reconciliations.  In 2015, Brenda took a voluntary demotion to a Career Employment Specialist as this was an area of social services that had always interested her.

Brenda has also participated in the Charitable Giving Campaign, and has taken several Employee University leadership classes and workshops. Brenda was also chosen to participate as a mentee in the LPDP program and graduated in 2015. Brenda is currently in the UC Davis Supervisory Effectiveness Program and plans to graduate in January 2017.
