by Lina Bickel, Division Chief, BSC
It is with great pleasure that I announce the promotion of Haylie
Cribbs to Eligibility Supervisor in the Bickel Division at the Benefit
Service Center (BSC). Haylie will assume supervision of the SC30 Unit
effective 2/13/17.
Haylie began her career with our department in January 2013
as an Eligibility Worker at the BSC, quickly setting herself apart as a highly
productive and customer service-oriented worker. Haylie sought
opportunities to volunteer for special projects and in April 2014 was selected
to work alongside DBS staff in the Health Care Reform conversion room efforts,
where she functioned in a lead worker capacity to assist staff in
troubleshooting problem cases. Haylie was instrumental in development,
testing, and improvement of processes and assisted with development of business
processes that are now part of approved training materials. In December
2014 Haylie was selected to serve as a mentor for Staff Development’s Medi-Cal
Induction Training which allowed her to plan, develop and deliver training
topics and to provide daily support to EW trainees. In March 2015 Haylie
promoted to Eligibility Worker III/Lead Worker and was assigned to the SC20
Unit where, in her first week, she stepped right in to the acting supervisor
role due to the unexpected absence of her supervisor. I was truly
impressed with Haylie’s natural leadership abilities during that stressful
time. In her almost two years as a Lead Worker, Haylie has provided
excellent support to her unit and supervisor and to staff outside her unit as
well, as she is known for her approachability and program expertise.
Haylie has been an active participant in the BSC Leads United group to work as
a team in assessing efficiencies and creating campaigns for EW awareness; she
also served as treasurer for a time.
Haylie’s previous career prepared her well to lead; she
spent 12 years as an office manager for a two-physician optometry practice with
responsibility for supervising five staff members. Haylie earned an
Associate’s Degree (with honors) in Liberal Arts and plans to pursue completion
of a bachelor’s degree in the near future. In her free time, Haylie works
with the non-profit Special Needs Network to organize activities and social
events for teens and young adults with intellectual disabilities.
Haylie is a voracious reader and good critical thinker, an
excellent communicator, an enthusiastic and creative trainer, an experienced
presenter, and an approachable leader. She will be an excellent addition
to the BSC Supervisory Team.
Please join me in congratulating Haylie on this important
step in her career.
