It
is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Premi Singh as a new Social Services Supervisor II in the Adult and Children’s
Services Branch effective September 25, 2017.
Premi Singh has been a part of the Santa Barbara County Department of Social Services, Child Welfare Services team since 2007. While employed with Santa Barbara County, Premi applied and was accepted into the CalSWEC Master of Social Work (MSW) Program through California State University, Long Beach. In May 2016, she earned her MSW.
Since 1981, Premi has acquired many skills and has a variety of experience working in several Child Welfare Services programs both in Santa Barbara and in Africa. Since 2007 when she was hired by Santa Barbara County, she has held positions in the Assessment and Investigation unit (AIU) for several years, and then in the Countywide Ongoing unit. In addition, one of her internships for her MSW program was in the Permanency/Adoption unit. Her other internship was at Cottage Children’s Medical Center where she provided brief interventions to patients and their families in the hospital setting.
Prior to her joining Santa Barbara County Child Welfare Services, she was employed in Durban, South Africa. From 1981-1988, she worked at the Durban Indian Child Welfare International where she provided a wide spectrum of casework services that included group work, community work, and case management. From 1995-2000, she continued her work with children in Africa where she provided a range of services starting at initial intake through and up to adoption.
Premi’s extensive experience in Child Welfare Services will serve her well in her new role of Supervisor.
