During yesterday’s Disaster CalFresh call, Mario Velasco expressed his
appreciation for Marian Acosta’s assistance at Camino del Remedio during the D-CF application
period. He commented (I’m paraphrasing) that she seemed to be everywhere
and exactly where she was needed in order to be most helpful.
I too want to express my appreciation for Marian, and not
only for her commitment to D-CF, but her overall performance as a DBS for
CalFresh. Marian makes herself available to BSC staff, faithfully attends
our biweekly DC/Sup meetings to interact with and learn from our supervisors,
and she seems to truly understand that policy direction always intersects with
BSC processes so she makes it her business to understand what we do and how
policy changes impact us. Marian is no stranger to the BSC floor—she does
not hesitate to visit worker cubicles to learn what we are doing and why. One of Marian’s best qualities is her ability to be passionate about something
but also listen and even change her position or direction if needed. My
point is, Marian shines all the time, not only now while in disaster recovery
mode. We appreciate her.
