Santa Barbara County Child Welfare Services, in collaboration with Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley, is hosting a unique and informative educational opportunity around the topic of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) on November 7, 2018. This event will be an interactive, multimedia performance, intended for youth ages 12-18, parents and caregivers. We hope that you will join us in inviting our youth and their care providers! The event takes place Wednesday November 7, 2018 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Santa Maria Radisson Hotel, 3455 Skyway Drive, Santa Maria, CA 93455. Admission is free, a tri-tip dinner will be provided, and free child care will be available. English to Spanish translation will be provided. We have partnered with kNOw More, a student-centered, drama-based, human trafficking awareness prevention program run by the Center for Justice and Reconciliation, for this event. Based on the latest research and developed in collaboration with educators and experts, the performance helps young people recognize the red flags and vulnerabilities of being targeted for recruitment into sex trafficking. Led by peers through an interactive experience, the purpose of kNOw MORE is to prevent future victims and identify current youth at risk.
The need for educational interventions is urgent, and we are thrilled to contribute to the County’s ongoing efforts through this partnership with kNOw More.
