By Christina Groppetti, CalSAWS Project Manager
Though CalSAWS has been in the making for many years, on June 28, 2019, 58 California Counties came together as one Joint Powers Authority to initiate the California Statewide Automated Welfare System (CalSAWS) Project and Consortium. Today, along with Orange and Ventura County we join 45 other CalSAWS Counties. Woohoo……
After several years of project preparations, we have finally reached Go Live! It is a momentous occasion, and I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your hard work and commitment to preparing for CalSAWS. You completed WBTs, attended ILTs and demos, and practiced in the learning labs. Additionally, many of you participated on various committees and workgroups assisting in preparing tools and resources for the staff or in the development of key project milestones. There are so many details with a project this size impacting virtually every area in the department.
As we go live today, I want to remind you that you are prepared for this moment. You have put in countless hours of effort and have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to make it to this point. Trust in your abilities, and do not hesitate to seek assistance from the various levels of support.
Our journey will continue as we learn together. We must be prepared to adapt and evolve as we navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I have every confidence in our ability to do so. Although the first few days will be a bit of a roller coaster, each day will be better than the day before. Give yourself grace, we will all be operating at a slower pace. Use your resources, learn from your peers, and take one step at a time. Before you know it, your day will feel routine again. You will build your confidence and expertise with each day.
I also want to express my gratitude to everyone for their efforts in getting us to this point. We have faced challenges and overcome obstacles, but through it all, we have persevered together. All of these key moments have led to our preparation for today. We are ready! You are ready!
The CalSAWS travel bus has arrived to its final destination. It was my true honor to cross the finish line with all of you. Let’s do it….it is go time.
One System, One Team.
