Partners in Education program

By Grigor Arzumanyan, CDR Division Chief

Maria Dwyer and I participated in a Mock Job Interview event for high school students, organized by the Santa Barbara County Office of Education (SBCoE). The event at the Hope Elementary School on November 14 was part of the Partners in Education program, an initiative dedicated to offering job training and internships for students ages 15 to 18. Students receive an 8-week long training preparing them for the professional world.

We interviewed high school students for twenty minutes each during the event, providing them with insights, encouragement, and feedback. We focused on helping students craft compelling narratives and build on their strengths, ensuring that they are well-prepared for future job interviews. It was one of the most rewarding experiences we have participated in.  The students were bright and eager to learn. Looking ahead, DSS is exploring a collaboration with SBCoE to bring interns into our department. This partnership aligns with our commitment to community involvement and an opportunity to contribute to the development of the next generation.
