When we started our Renew ’22 initiative, the CEO held meetings around the county getting ideas from staff about projects, policy changes, practice changes and other things that could improve our work as we focus on achieving what we need to do within the resources we have.
Out of those meetings came over 200 ideas which were later evaluated to identify the ones that would be possible, and out of the ones that would be possible, would have the biggest impact. Many of the Renew goals being worked on in Departments and between Departments developed out of that original list of ideas. Some of the ideas are still awaiting further exploration as we get some on the initial projects worked through to completion.
In an effort to keep ideas flowing, I am inviting all of you to keep thinking about things big and small that we could do (or stop doing) to improve our effectiveness and efficiency. As you come up with those ideas over time (this is an ongoing process) I offer you two routes of putting those forward:
Option 1: Take your idea to your Supervisor and Manger. In instances where the idea is applicable only to your work area, your Supervisor and Manager can discuss your idea with you and decide a course of action of action is possible, or decide that the idea is not workable at the present time and explain to you why. If the idea has a more global application your manager will forward the idea to me and we will explore from there. In either case, your manager will forward your idea and any action taken regarding it to me as we will be keeping a file of all ideas and any subsequent action as a result of those ideas.
Option 2: You can email your idea to me and I will engage you in dialogue about it to decide a course of action in terms of looking into the matter and the possibilities.
In all cases you will receive feedback regarding your idea, and your idea will be retained in a centralized file for tracking and reference. In some cases you will be invited to be part of a workgroup to explore the possibilities of your idea and/or work out the details of implementation.
For any of you who still feel in the dark regarding what Renew ’22 is, please see this article, or contact your Supervisor (all Supervisors engaged in a Renew ’22 gathering with the CEO last year) or Manager. or our Renew ’22 Ambassadors (Lina Bickel, Dennis Tivey and Noel Lossing).
I thank you in advance for your ongoing engagement in our Renew ’22 efforts.
