The County is switching from four-digit to five-digit extension numbers for internal dialing. This change impacts ALL county phones and will take effect August 10th. Everyone will keep their current extension number and add the last number of their prefix. For example: 681-5555 will become ext 15555.
Impacts to be aware of:
- Any extension numbers programmed on speed dial buttons on phones and faxes will need to be updated to the new five-digit extension.
- Phone Lists that are by extension numbers only will need updating.
- Voice Mail recordings that refer to another extension (not the seven-digit number) number will need to be updated.
Next week you will see posters going up in our buildings to notify everyone that this change is coming. Read them and discuss the change within your unit to discover what updates you will need to make so the change is as seamless as possible. Thank you for your attention to this, and feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns.
