One of the first things that clients see as they come into the lobby at CDR, is the new Community Resource Hub. The project is an example of the innovation promoted in the county’s Green Belt Training. Participants in the training were tasked with looking at the ways to improve current practices. Santa Barbara’s Saengjaeng division addressed the question: How might we be more efficient and consistent in meeting client’s community resource needs when visiting our lobby? As a result, they reconfigured the lobby to accommodate an area where clients can help themselves to information on local community resources. Read on to learn more!
By surveying different people, they designed a client friendly display. They also developed an efficient process of keeping the station up to date and stocked by creating a binder with masters of all of the flyers, to make it easier for staff to make copies, add new resources, and dispose of obsolete information.
This new approach embraces the CW 2.0 approach of meeting clients where they are. It ensures consistency and efficiency in the delivery of information, and it allows clients with limited access to technology, to select the information in print, that is pertinent to themselves.
It has also resulted in a cost saving measure for the department. There has been a 100% decrease in duplication of efforts researching and compiling resources for clients, so staff is able to redirect their energy to other pressing matters. Though it addressed a current problem, it will be of benefit well into the future.
As we continue to step forward to meet the challenges of providing the best service to our clients, we are proud to steep our innovations in our CW 2.0 values, which puts our clients first.
