SUMMARY FROM TERRIE CONCELLOS: As a workplace we are under Cal/OSHA regulations and therefore as of today there are no changes to mask wearing or social distancing at this time.
We understand that there may be some confusion regarding the “reopening” of County facilities on June 16, 2021. Below is a summary of what will and will not happen over the next couple of days. Read on to learn more.
- County facilities will reopen on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. The Board of Supervisors meeting will remain closed to the public for the meeting on June 15, and until further notice.
- Doors to all County buildings that were open to the public before the pandemic will reopen for public access on Wednesday, June 16, even if it is only for scheduled walk-in appointments. General Services worked with each department to determine specific doors to unlocked for public access.
- Social distancing and masking for indoor workplaces, such as County facilities, is still a requirement under Cal/OSHA COVID workplace safety guidelines.
- The County will continue to encourage remote work to the greatest extent possible. Virtual meetings are expected to continue to accommodate spacing restrictions.

- Persons exempted from wearing a face-covering due to a medical condition who are in regular contact with others should wear a non-restrictive alternative, such as a face shield with a drape on the bottom edge, as long as their condition permits.
- For anyone not in possession of a face covering, one will be provided. Otherwise, accommodations will be made to maintain the safety of all individuals.
- Parking gates will be down during normal operational hours; parking restrictions and established protocols will be enforced.
- Mail delivery will continue with delivery in Santa Barbara on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday; and in Santa Maria on Monday and Thursday.
- Each department has a written COVID-19 Prevention Program (CPP) as part of its Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP). To review your department’s CPP, go HERE (hyperlink)
- The Cal/OSHA Temporary Standards website (provides the latest updates and changes that are being monitored. Reporting requirements for workers’ compensation and Cal/OSHA related to COVID-19 positive cases and outbreaks have not changed. Also, the County’s existing COVID-19 Workplace Exposure Protocol remains in effect.
- As it relates to COVID-19, County paid leave time expires on June 30, 2021, and California Supplemental paid sick leave expires on September 30, 2021.
