by Lina Bickel, CalWIN Project Manager
I am excited to announce that your core CalSAWS Project Team is in place and hard at work! We are not doing it all alone, by any means—we work closely with Christina Groppetti and her team of DBS and AOP staff, with Staff Development, with our CalSAWS Committee members, with the statewide CalSAWS Project Team and the Deloitte CalWIN Implementation Support Services Team, and all of the other California counties. CalSAWS is a big deal! But we are the ones who will build CalSAWS expertise and share what we learn with you.
What can you expect from the core CalSAWS team? We will be your change ambassadors, your CalSAWS experts, your communicators. We will arrange opportunities for staff to see CalSAWS in action. We will make ourselves available to demonstrate CalSAWS functionality during unit meetings, team meetings, huddles—just invite us and we will come! We will make sure you know what is happening with the CalSAWS Project.
There are various project streams with activities occurring
simultaneously—business processes are being developed, training plans are
underway, and organizational change management analysis is happening. Lots of technical things are in progress as
well: we will convert our existing Task
Management Tool (TMT) data to CalSAWS; we are learning about reports that will
exist in CalSAWS and how to build our own Ad Hoc reports; and the DocSTAR images
will migrate to the CalSAWS solution. In
any given week we are asked to make decisions about opting in or out of
functionality that will be available in CalSAWS or decisions about design
enhancements to come. We are learning
about the BenefitsCal self-service portal that will replace MyBCW. All of this is actually just the tip of the
iceberg! Once we are truly in
implementation phase (beginning in early 2022), all activities mentioned will
ramp up and move us full steam ahead to our Go Live date of April 24, 2023!
